Christmas market in Nuremberg, 08. + 09.12.2018
In keeping with the current weather situation with meter-high snow, here is a short supplement to a December weekend at the Nuremberg Christmas Market 2018.
Neither I nor my girlfriend have been there before.
Since we were only travelling with “light luggage”, I only took photos with my smartphone.
All pictures are available here.
Day 1: Arrival in Nuremberg at the Christkindlesmarkt – Saturday, 08.12.
Early in the morning on 08.12. we took the train to Nuremberg.
Around 13:00 we had reached our intermediate destination – the Nuremberg main station.
In order to be able to stroll relaxed on the Christkindlesmarkt, we took a room in the nearby Fürth.
As already practiced in Berlin, we locked our luggage in a locker.
The hotel could only be occupied from 16:00. So we made our way to the Christkindlesmarkt for a long time.
The weather was unfortunately not completely on our side and so we had kept the stay in the middle of the fragrance clouds from incense sticks, roasted almonds and “Rostbratwürscht” rather short.
A sea of stalls – we already knew this sight from Croatia from the weekly market 😀

In the old town of course a short shop window stroll had to be made… 😀
In the meantime it got dark and we went back to the train station and afterwards to the hotel.
On the way there we discovered a small Christmas market in Fürth. Spontaneously we decided to go back there again after leaving our luggage at the hotel.
After a small drink and a stopover in a restaurant, we drove back to the hotel.
Tag 2: Supplement and return trip – Sunday, 09.12.
Since the previous day was unfortunately not very suitable for outdoor activities, we tried our luck again on Sunday.
Unfortunately there was rain and icy wind again. Since we didn’t want to go home immediately after the check-out, we went back to the Nuremberg train station, where we – exactly – stored our luggage again.

Then we walked through the stands again and stocked up with gingerbread.
After the midday carillon and with more and more rain we drove back to the station and made our way back.
Maybe we will go to the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg again this year – but then hopefully without permanent rain.
