Christmas in the woods in Halsbach, 08.12.2017
On December 08, 2017 we drove to the annual “Christmas in the woods” in Halsbach.
This woods-Christmas is a Christmas market held in the forest.
There are mulled wine and food stands as well as various kinds of craft huts.
For more information about this slightly different Christmas market, visit the organizer’s website (German only!) ,
Until the last minute we were undecided, since it had rained almost continuously.
It was not unlikely that it would be very muddy in the forest.
But in the end we drove to Halsbach.
Except of the parking lot, there was luckily no slush in the forest.
However, an icy wind swept over the area – combined with some snow and rain.
I took the photos with my mobile phone.
So therefore, the quality of the photos is not as usual.
In the dark and without a good tripod it is difficult to get good photos. 🙁

Entrance to the Christmas grounds
Right after the entrance area we located a mulled wine and Feuerzangenbowle stand. 😀
A “Feuerzangenbowle” is mulled wine with a rum-soaked sugarloaf lit above it.
Somehow you have to keep warm in the icy wind. 😀
After we had looked at a few stands, we had to find something to eat as well.
A tarte cake, for example. Or a hearty ham sandwich.
It is rumored that a Bosna stand was vis-a-vis to the above named food stands. 😀

Of course, we did not just visit the food stalls. 😛
In the cellar of the Waldbühne there were further exhibitors with small craft stands.
Close to the exit there was a large sales area with all sorts of garden decoration of glass and metal.
But also rusty iron parts were everywhere – allegedly also called “decoration”.
Seems to be a new trend – with me, something like that would end up with the recycler. 😀
Probably this blog contains a breeze of irony or even sarcasm.
… at least I heard from rumores… 😀
