Holidays in Bibione, 01. – 08.09.2017
This year’s summer holiday in Bibione became uncertain again shortly before the beginning.
Due to a tornado on 10.08., which originated before Venice and swept up to Bibione, it was not quite clear whether we could drive or not. Through this tornado numerous people were injured, campsites and houses were devastated and numerous trees were uprooted.
Almost to the day 20 years ago – on 20.07.1997 – an even more violent tornado swept through Pineda. At that time the tornado extended into the interior of the town.
But now enough of the bad news.
As always the photos are collected in an album here.
Now we come to the vacation report. 😀
Day 1: Arrival – Friday, 01.09.2017
This time we had booked from Friday to Friday in the hope that we could escape the traffic.
Our mobile home was only available from 16:00, but we left at 7:00 in the morning.
Fortunately we came down without much traffic and were able to make full use of the afternoon.
Unfortunately we didn’t have too much luck with the weather during the whole week – that’s why there aren’t as many photos as usual.
Therefore there are for example no photos of the arrival day, because it either rained – or we unloaded the cars.
Tag 2: Bibione Centre – Saturday, 02.09.2017
Our first, whole holiday day was fortunately sunny.
That’s why we were already down on the beach in the morning – who knows when the next storm will come.
This can happen at the sea within a few moments.
In the evening I went with my girlfriend to Bibione to celebrate the anniversary.
Of course it had rained again until then…
Day 3: Public “Herb Garden” – Sunday, 03.09.2017
For years we’ve walked past it on our way to the beach:
A “herb garden”, which was laid out between the bicycle path and the camping site.
Probably the herbs were planted over a longer distance.
There you can find sage, rosemary and thyme to take with you.
Sage, thyme and rosemary fresh from nature, directly on the sea
Day 4: Storm break – Monday, 04.09.2017
Apparently, the storm had taken off for Monday.
There were dark thunderclouds everywhere – but they were peaceful.
Since the opportunity was good, we had taken a little walk along the beach towards Bibione.
But our eyes were always on the sky to avoid nasty surprises from above.
Thunderclouds are moving towards Croatia
After lunch – while siesta was being made in Pineda – we walked a little while while it was still nice.
In the evening we all went eating together in Bibione and saw some street artists.
In a matter of seconds impressive works of art were conjured up with spray cans and lighters
Day 5: “Sunny” day – Tuesday, 05.09.2017
Once per holiday you have to watch a sunrise.
In the hope that the weather is not too overcast early in the morning, the alarm clock was set for 6:00 a.m. at sunrise.
The sky was cloudy – but we just hoped that the clouds would still come up.
But the waiting was rewarded once again.
Through the clouds the sun came into its own.
Unfortunately it wasn’t possible to capture this on the camera so well.
After breakfast we made our way to Bibione.
There the traditional weekly market took place.
On the other hand also the normal market, where mainly bags, shoes and towels were sold.
At noon we had fresh fish, shrimps and scampi – even if there were some difficulties with grilling at the beginning.
But where there is a will – or hunger – there is a way.
Afterwards the remaining sun hours were used for sunbathing on the beach.
In the evening we went to the sunset at the harbour and afterwards a round of minigolf.

Day 6: Septemberfest in Bibione – Wednesday, 06.09.2017
Wednesday we started a little calmer, because we wanted to go to Bibione for the Septemberfest in the evening.
For over 30 years, the Septemberfest has been a two-day wine and gastronomy event.
Fortunately, there are also good bus connections in Italy late in the evening, so that one can leave the car at the camping site without any problems.
But before we were still on the road with electric 4-person-bicycles (… or as they are otherwise called in the jargon…).
With a 4-person bicycle and a golf cart (driving licence required!) we were on the road for one hour in Bibione.
Especially the golfkart was a lot of fun. 😀
Briefly on the gas pedal tapped and the thing shot off. 😀
After this “hell ride” the Septemberfest was also very welcome.
You could buy a 0.2 litre cup in the entrance area and then have it filled up at the various Vinzer stands – mostly for an extra charge.
Usually a cup of wine cost around 2€.
A fair price for a wine that doesn’t come from any large bottling plant and also tastes like wine.
However, there was also a large stand with red and white wine for lukewarm… 😀
But of course there was also food like Spare Ribs or French fries.
The atmosphere was also taken care of – a huge stage with live music was set up.
Day 7: Last full and rainy day – Thursday, 07.09.2017
On our last, full holiday day we were again at the beach in the morning, although a cold wind blew.
After lunch I went shopping again to buy the souvenirs for home.
In the afternoon we wanted to go to the beach again.
However, a heavy downpour came up, so that the topic “beach” was done for this holiday.
When suddenly a rainbow came up after the storm, I was immediately back on the beach – with cameras.
The air was quite cold, but the sea was pleasantly warm – as always after a thunderstorm.
For a short time there were even 2 rainbows to see.
Especially impressive was the rainbow end above the sea:
To the left of the rainbow the sky was light grey – to the right almost deep black.
In the evening we went one last time to the ice cream parlour.
As a holiday conclusion we went to the new bar “Laguna Beach” before the last night in Italy came for us.
Day 8: Journey home – Friday, 08.09.2017
Unfortunately there are no photos of the day of the return journey – it wouldn’t have been very eventful either.
In the early morning we made our way back and came home relatively well through the traffic.
