Croatia 2015 (22. – 29.08.2015)
This year’s holiday, we stayed with the family in Croatia – and not in Italy as the years before.
Besides my family, we also had my girlfriend and 2 further persons with us.
22.08.: outward journey and first explorings
In order to avoid to get into the holiday traffic jam, we decided to start travelling at 5:00AM.
As we were 7 peoples, we need to drive with 2 cars which we already packed with our luggages the evening before.
After making the last arrangements, we started our trip at 5:00AM.
From the radio we got the information that a lot of cars were driving southwards right behind us.
Around 150km later, we came into the first short traffic jams: Around 6:30AM we reached the ‘Tauerntunnel’ where we could see the first sunbeams at the mountain peaks: In Villach we made a short tank stop to refill the cars before we continued our ride to the ‘Karawanken tunnel’ and Slovenia.
Before passing Ljubljana, we made another short break to change the drivers as the trip already took 3 hours and we started at night which is stressful.
At 3:00PM we arrived at our final destination: Tribunj, which is next to Šibenik.

Right after arriving at our holiday house, we unloaded the cars.
Afterwards, we went shopping for the weekend – luckily there was a national discounter so we could find all we wanted.
Of course, after all that stress we went down to the beach:
23.08.: Looking for a gravel beach:
Early morning we drove to a nearby international discounter for our weekly shopping.
In the early afternoon, we searched for a gravel beach which was recommended to us by our lessors.
Of course, I took my underwater camera with me because Croatia is well-known for its very clear and clean sea:

24.08.: Exploring the village, beach and night shots
This morning, we decided to explore more of our village.
At first, we went down to the harbor and from there was a path upstairs to the church “Svet Nikole” (St. Nikola).
From the hill of the church is a great panorama view of the whole village: View of the island of the old Tribunj – from there the village has spread to the mainlandView of the southern village with the harbor and the breakwater
After lunch we went down to the concrete beach.
At midnight I walked upstairs to the church for some night shots:

25.08.: relaxing day & beach
Today was a very relaxing day – in the afteroon we went down to the beach where we stayed until the afternoon.
On our way back we booked a day-trip for the next day to the national park “Krka”.
26.08.: National park Krka and adventure trip including
On this Wednesday we did our day-trip to the national park “Krka” next to Šibenik.
At 9:00AM the excursion boat departed – right after departing we have had a great view to Tribunj:

Around 2.5 hours on the boat, we arrived at the national park.
As the journey took longer than expected, we only have had 2.5 hours for exploring the park because the departure of the boat was scheduled for 2:30 PM.
Due to this reason, we only were able to explore a little part of the park and a lot of other toursists have been there, too.

After exploring a part of the park, some of us have taken a short bath in the river right in front of the southern waterfall until we had to return to the landing place.Waterfall taken from the river The city Skradin next to the national park
Right after passing in Šibenik the switchover from the river Krka to the sea, our captain turned off the engines.
As the crew wasn’t speaking English very good, nobody of us knew what happened.
It seemed that the engine was damaged because the starter couldn’t start the engine.
Luckily 10 minutes later, another excursion boat was able to tow us while the requested “towboat” was on the way to our excursion boat.
Towed by the excursion boat
Our meanwhile arrived “towboat” was not really a towboat – it only was a simple and old fishing cutter – but much better than staying on the sea at 40°C without any shadow.
After this eventful day and more than 3.5 hours return journey, each of us was happy to arrive at our holiday house and having a shower.

To rest ourselves from this day, we decided to relax in one of several bars at the island of Tribunj.
On the way back to the holiday house I took some night shots. >> Here are the night shots from this day <<
27.08.: A day without any happenings
This Thursday I stayed in the house because of staying the previous day in the heat, I got a heat stroke.
For today, we have had planned to visit Šibenik.. 🙁
28.08.: Cooling down in the sea & city trip to Šibenik
To end our holidays fine, we went one last time down to the beach early in the morning.
In the early afternoon, we drove to Šibenik where we explored the old town.
After a short cooling, we went back to the holiday house and finally to Šibenik by car.View to Šibenik ‘Sea bear’ new defined 😀 Turtles at a very mossy stone in a water well Cable splitter in Croatia – “Trust me, I’m an engineer”historical buildings next to the so-called cathedral “Katedrala Sv. 29.08.: Returning to Germany
We started our returning around 9:30AM as we had to bring a friend to Zadar.
Afterwards we continued our trip – but we lost around 1 hour on the highway in Zagreb and another 2 hours we lost in the traffic jam right before the ‘Karawankentunnel’.
Because of this traffic jam in Slovenia, I decided to have a short cooling break for my car to avoid any damage.
Finally, we arrived at home after 13 hours including breaks and traffic jams.
